Visual Studio Code Name “Orcas” Released to MSDN

Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" September 2006 CTP was posted to MSDN subscriber downloads this month. The long awaited Orcas will include .NET Framework 3.0 (WinFX) tools, designers and developer technologies. WinFX/.NET 3.0 technologies include Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation and the Windows Workflow Foundation. Orcas promises an improved Windows Vista and Office 2007 development experience. You can find out more on Orcas and the Visual Studio roadmap at the Visual Studio Future Versions page.

Included in subscriber downloads is an Orcas Base Image for testing and the September 2006 CTP. Those of us with Vista already installed can attempt to use the image, attempt being the operative word here.  VPC 2004 is not yet supported on Vista - good luck. We all have five machines/servers at home for a reason – huh ;-).

More to come…
